Watson & Band Assists Orient Securities in Setting Up the First Broker Asset Management Company in China
June 11, 2010
Watson & Band, as the legal counsel, assisted the famous domestic broker Orient Securities to go through the procedures at the China Security Regulatory Commission (CSRC) for the approval to set up the first asset management company in China – Shanghai Orient Securities Asset Management Co., Ltd. The set-up procedure has already been formally initiated. Orient Securities becomes the first separate wealth management unit in China ever since asset management brokerage service was first offered in 2005. Acting as a new participant, the entrance of the asset management company into the domestic capital market marks a milestone for the multi-level capital market in China.
To adapt to the development of the domestic capital market and the requirements for building Shanghai into a global financial center, Watson & Band has been exploring and practicing in commercial fields such as securities and capital markets. W&B’s attorneys have provided high-quality legal advice and services for many issuers and underwriters in security-related deals. The success in getting the approval for setting up the subsidiary asset management company for Orient Securities this time is only one of a series of W&B successes in this field.
