The Revised Copyright Law Will Take Effect on April 1,2010
The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress released on February 26, 2010 the Decisions on Revising the Copyright Law of the People's Republic of China (Decisions), which shall take effect on April 1, 2010.
Article 4 of the Copyright Law is revised as: Copyright owners shall neither violate the Constitution and the relevant laws and regulations of the PRC, nor damage the public interest. The nation shall supervise and administrate the publication and transmission of works in line with the law. In addition, the Decisions supplemented an article regarding the pledge of copyrights as Article 26: where a copyright is pledged, both the pledgor and pledgee shall register the pledge with the copyright administrative authorities of the State Council.
