Dr. Xiao is General Manager of Watson & Band IP Agency Ltd and a qualified patent attorney. He is also qualified to practice law in China.
Graduated from the department of physics of Wuhan University with a PhD degree in information optics, Dr. Xiao published four academic essays as the first author in the SCI Journal and a number of other essays as the cooperative author when he was pursuing his PhD degree.
During the years after Dr. Xiao joined Watson & Band, he has accumulated rich experience in dealing with patent application, invalidation and infringement in the field of optics and physics. He has handled a large number of patents in various fields such as communications, computer, optics, electrics and machinery, covering services of patent search, layout and mining; drafting, translating and proofreading of patent documentations; drafting observations to office actions, handling patent invalidation and infringement cases, etc. Besides, he has been engaged by courts as a patent appraisal expert to participate in the technical appraisal work of multiple patent infringement cases, including one influential patent infringement case in the field of communications, which was named by the Supreme People’s Court as one of the Top 10 Typical IP Cases of the year in recognition of the important role of the technical appraisal team to which Dr. Xiao belonged in the trial of the case. In 2021, Dr. Xiao is listed in the authoritative ranking IAM Patent 1000 as an outstanding individual in the patent prosecution area.
